Nestling below Tre’r Ceiri, you will find Nant Gwrtheyrn, a magical former quarrying village that is now the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre, where you can join in and tackle the Welsh language and learn about its history and culture. As you wander down the steep slope the distant cottages and chapel are a welcoming sign. The centre was established in 1978 and since then the old quarrymen’s cottages have been a home to thousands of people, eager to learn the Welsh language.
The “Language of Heaven” is not only alive and well in this part of Wales, but is also prominent in everyday life – hear it in every corner shop, post office, bank and restaurant. It is a language rich in idioms and expressions and ideal for story telling – plenty of which are ready to be told in this part of the world.
